Situated in 112 acres of mature rolling countryside the 18 hole, 6769
yard, par 73 championship length course makes excellent use of the surrounding
landscape and its numerous natural and man-made hazards and beautiful
features.
The course
was designed by Sir Henry Cotton, whose philosophy was to create a
championship length course with very little rough, but incorporating
many bunkers and large undulating greens, a task he accomplished in
style. The course was opened in 1966.
A broad repertoire of shots are required to master the course, which
demands that every golfer regardless of standard, is rewarded for
thoughtful and skilful play rather than for power alone.
