Gillingham's golf course has pleasant, narrow, tree lined fairways that
belie how tough it is to hit both them and the small greens. It is some
5473 yards long and is a challenging test for players at all levels.
The first record of Golf being played at Gillingham was in 1905. Formally
laid out by James Braid in 1919 and constructed by the army, the course
remains a challenge after being updated by Donald Steel in the 1990s
with its tree lined fairways and small fast greens. |
